Master of Medical Physics at Universiti Malaya Part 1

Time flies very fast, I have done already my bachelor's degree in medical physics. Then, without further thought, I made a decision to pursue my study in master's degree level in Medical Physics at UM. It takes courage to write my experience with a master's degree because it was so hard for me. I faced the darkest moment in my life in my master's journey and I was struggling to finish my master's study.

I felt like my decision to  pursue my study at UM was a wrong decision because:

1. I was not familiar with UM, because before this I studied at USM for my bachelor's degree.

2. I was not prepared mentally and physically for the overload assignments and assessments. I was not ready seriously.

3. I was not ready to study online mode, because the pressure during online classes was different because you have no one to refer to. you just seat inside your room and face the laptop alone. Ugh!

I still remember during the first day of class we were already bombarded with assignments, and we need to choose the topic. I need to choose fast because if not I will get a difficult topic. I would say you need to be very alert with the assignment on the spectrum ( eLearning UM). The worst part will happen if you're not alert about the notifications or assignments on the WhatsApp group. It happened to me, I was not alert to the notification because that day I was away and I was not with my phone at that time. so I missed the message from the lecturer and I can't choose the best project title for my research!. By the way, I took master by coursework, so in semester 2 we need to complete a mini research project. The research project was very important because the credit hours for this course are 14 units!. It is very crucial to find the best topic because you will do the experiment, collect data, and write the thesis.

So, It happened already, I just did my best to complete my research. I would say it was very hard because from A to Z you need to do it on your own. I struggled that time because that was the first time I did my research on my own. before this, I did FYP during my bachelor's degree with my friend and was fully guided by my SV. But the good thing about the research project in the master is you will learn the true journey as a scientist kind of thing yk. You learn how to come up with the background of your study, plan the methodology, identify the problem, analyze the data, etc.

I still remember, after the first class, I asked my parents if I quit my master's program.
